The Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory  warmly congratulates AANL distinguished scientist Hrant Ruben Gulkanyan on his 80th anniversary. We wish the esteemed physicist good health, success, continuity of his scientific activitis for the benefit of the development of science in Armenia.

In 1965, Mr. Gulkanyan graduated from the Faculty of Physics, YSU, then defended his PhD thesis at the Joint  Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna).

In 1974, he started working at YerFI and was immediately involved in the creation of the local film information processing center.

The group led by Mr. Gulkanyan has taken an active and effective part in ALICE scientific experiment at CERN Large Hadron Collider, successfully recording the most reliable evidence of the emergence of a new state of matter, quark-gluon plasma, in ultra-high-energy nuclear collisions.

In recent years , H. Gulkanyan has played an important role in development and implementation of the nuclear interaction research program at the AANL linear electron accelerator and proton cyclotron. In 2002-2015, he headed four proposals funded from the state budget. He has co-authored more than 200 scientific articles.

On this occasion, Hrant Ruben Gulkanyan is awarded  with the honorary medal of "A. I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (Yerevan Physics Institute)" Foundation.

Once again, we congratulate our dearest physicist and we fully hope that he will continue his active involvement in research activities at AANL, and will contribute to the effective organization and finalization of the science projects with the participation of young scientists.
