On August 13, a seminar by Professor Alex Kamenev of the Fine Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Minnesota was held at the A. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory, entitled “Large Fluctuations in Open Quantum Systems.”
During the seminar, the statistical properties of atypical measurement outcomes observed in the stationary states of driven dissipative open quantum systems were presented.
Professor Kamenev discussed the mechanisms through which the description of large fluctuations may exhibit non-analytic behavior. The seminar also addressed how the same fluctuations can be realized through several different optimal trajectories and how the competition between them influences the system’s most probable evolution.
