A Seminar on Modeling Interatomic Interactions Was Held at AANL

On July 31, a seminar entitled “Delocalized Nonlinear Vibrational Modes for Testing and Improving Interatomic Potentials” was held at AANL, with Sergey V. Dmitriev, a researcher at the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as the speaker.

The speaker presented the theory of delocalized nonlinear vibrational modes (DNVMs), their role in crystal structures, and their applications in materials science and computational physics.

During the seminar, it was presented how these modes can be used to assess and improve the accuracy of models describing the properties of materials. In particular, the discussion focused on how they help compare the results of different computational approaches and develop more accurate models for predicting material behavior.

The meeting concluded with a discussion, during which the participants and the speaker addressed the applications of the presented methods and opportunities for further research.
