Postgraduate Program

A. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (Yerevan Physics Institute), being home to fundamental and innovative research, offers postgraduate programs on different bases. We are committed to educating and preparing world-class specialists, researchers, and PhD students. Since 1971 more than 200 highly qualified researchers have defended their PhD dissertations at AANL and are actively engaged in supervising and inspiring the new generation of Armenian scientists.

There are both full and part-time study programs (of three and four years of education, respectively) in the following specializations:

  • Theoretical Physics
  • Nuclear Physics, Physics of Elementary Particles and Cosmic Rays Physics

Decisions regarding the admission to the postgraduate program are made in accordance with the exam results and the requirements of the “Legislation of the Republic of Armenia on Higher Education”.

The topic and the supervisor of the students (both full and part-time) are discussed and approved at the meeting of the scientific council. There is an annual certification of students where they report on the results of the ongoing research, participation in conferences and experiments proceeding from their curriculum.

The Regional Doctoral Program on Theoretical and Experimental Particle Physics sponsored by the Volkswagen foundation, including the Armenian, Georgian and German nodes, offers students a unique chance to attend the colloquia, lectures series and seminars by advanced researchers from AANL and a number of overseas top universities. Within the framework of this Program the Laboratory has admission for the position of PhD students in Theoretical and Experimental Physics.

Every year the PhD students and young researchers at AANL are nominated for prestigious academic awards. In 2019, 5 students and researchers were awarded Educational and Academic prizes of the Republic of Armenia.
