The Capintec CRC-55tR dose calibrator is designed to measure the activity of radioactive isotopes used in nuclear medicine. The Isotope Research and Production Division develops technologies for the production of radioactive isotopes. Isotope production is carried out using a cyclotron accelerator by irradiating solid targets.
Following irradiation, the solid target is dissolved, and the required isotope is separated from the resulting solution for subsequent use in the production of a radiopharmaceutical. The activity of the obtained isotope is measured using the CRC-55tR dose calibrator. These measurements make it possible to estimate how many patients could be supplied with the amount of isotope produced on an industrial scale.
The Division has carried out test production of Tc-99m and Ga-68 isotopes and measured their activity. In the future, it is planned to produce and measure the activity of Cu-64, Cu-61, Cu-67, and Ga-67 isotopes as well.
