GEVORG KARYAN IS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF THE ALIKHANYAN NATIONAL SCIENCE LABORATORY
On May 2nd, 2023, Gevorg Karyan was appointed as a director of the Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory with a tenure period of 5 years.
The open competition for the vacant position of the AANL (Yerevan Physics Institute) director was held on April 28th, 2023. Out of three candidates, the AANL Board of Trustees selected G. Karyan through the confidential voting.
Gevorg Karyan, PhD in Phys.-Math. Sc., held the position of the AANL deputy director for scientific affairs from 2018 to 2021. He is a senior scientist at the AANL Department of Computational Physics and Information Technologies.
In the period of 2014-2022, he worked as a deputy data processing coordinator within the "HERMES" collaboration. In 2009-2018, G. Karyan was actively involved in all physical researches of the DESY-Yerevan (Hamburg, Germany) group.
He was an active member of "MIXMAX", "HERMES", "OLYMPUS" collaborations. Since 2018, he has been leading the activities of the AANL-Belle-2 (KEK, Japan) scientific group.
He is currently lecturing at YSU and at the AANL (Master’s studies).
He is regularly invited to international research centers to participate in on-site research activities.
